A lake surrounded by woods, with space for a picnic + trails to explore before heading home. Pattaconk Lake Recreation Area is part of Cockaponset State Forest and offers a place to spend a summer afternoon swimming, paddling, or relaxing beside the water.

Beyond the swimming area, wooded trails lead around the reservoir and into the surrounding forest.

GOOD TO KNOW //
• Open daily, 8 a.m. to sunset.
• Designated swimming area; no lifeguards on duty.
• Check the state’s swimming-water report before visiting.
• Picnic areas, grills, restrooms + a carry-in boat launch are available.
• Leashed dogs welcome on trails + in picnic areas, but not on the beach.
• Some trails are hiking-only; check the trail map before biking.
